Venus Flytrap

Light

• Needs 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily (a sunny windowsill is ideal).

• If indoors with low light, use a grow light for best results.

Water

• Use distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water only. Tap water can harm the plant.

• Keep soil consistently moist, not soggy. A shallow tray under the pot helps maintain humidity.

Feeding

• Feeds naturally on insects. Do not overfeed—1–2 bugs per month is enough.

• Never feed meat or processed foods.

• Don’t trigger the traps for fun—this weakens the plant.

Soil & Potting

• Use nutrient-free soil like sphagnum peat moss with perlite or sand.

• Avoid regular potting soil or fertilizers—these will kill the plant.

Dormancy

• Requires winter dormancy (about 3–4 months).

• During this time, reduce watering and give it a cool rest (around 35–50°F).
